Former derivatives trader Nick Leeson was plunged into the spotlight over 20 years ago when he caused the collapse of Barings Bank.

Watford born Nick, 51, made fraudulent and unauthorised moves while based in Singapore that cost Barings Bank more than £800 million and directly led to its downfall in 1995.

After running to Malaysia, Thailand and finally Germany, Nick was arrested in Frankfurt and extradited back to Singapore on 20 November 1995.

He was denied a trial in the UK and was exported to Singapore where he was jailed for six and a half years for forgery and fraud.
